Some stories refuse to fade.

The Raven’s Crypt began with a single question — what if the tales we love didn’t have to dissolve into feeds, streams, and disappearing platforms? What if the old ways could breathe again?

Long before the first record spun in a collector’s hands, this Crypt began with something quieter, smaller, and more personal:

A lifelong love for Edgar Allan Poe.

A Passion That Began With Poe

For years, Spencer Madrie, Founder of The Raven's Crypt, tried reconnecting the world to Poe through readings, narrations, and atmospheric storytelling on YouTube.

He poured time, effort, and obsession into it…and almost no one watched.

The silence hit hard.

It made him question the work.

Question the dream.

Question whether there was still space for old stories in a world drowning in algorithms.

And then — unexpectedly — something shifted.

During a late-night conversation with a close friend, Josh Dunaway (a graphic designer, artist, and vinyl purist with ink-stained fingers and strong opinions about physical media), the spark ignited.

His love for vinyl collided with Spencer's love for Poe.

What if we merged our obsessions?

What if Poe could live again — not as pixels, but as something tangible?

That question became The Raven's Crypts first vinyl.

  • Whispers in the Dark

YouTube readings, narrations, and atmospheric experiments — almost unseen, but foundational.

  • The Spark

A conversation about vinyl that collided passion with possibility.

  • The First Pressing & The Surge

The Raven’s Crypt — A Collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s Haunting Tales. Crystal clear with blood-red splatter. A physical resurrection of Poe. The drop that sold out, proving the hunger for physical media is alive and rising.

A Legacy, Not a Brand

The first release wasn’t born out of strategy, trend, or hope for virality.
It was born from something far more human:

A hope that Spencer’s life would matter.
A hope that something he made would outlive him.
A hope that his name— tied to Poe’s name — would stand somewhere in the world long after he's gone.

Morbid? Maybe.
Honest? Completely.
The vinyl became a way to bind his story to Poe’s — permanently, physically, undeniably.
And then something happened we never expected:

People connected.
People cared.
People collected.

When the World Finally Noticed

Against every expectation…

The record sold.
Then sold again.
Then it exploded.

We weren’t prepared.
We had no master plan.
We had no budget.

We built this brand in the middle of financial strain and sheer willpower.

But collectors showed up.
Then they kept showing up.
And from that first pressing,

The Raven’s Crypt was born.

The Ones Behind the Crypt

The Raven’s Crypt was founded by Spencer Madrie, a lifelong admirer of Poe and a creator driven by the belief that stories deserve a physical home. His love for gothic literature and physical media sparked the first vision of the Crypt — but he never intended to build it alone.

From the beginning, Spencer surrounded himself with a small, obsessive circle of creators: storytellers, illustrators, sound artists, designers, and craftsmen who share the same devotion to preserving the macabre and forging new myth.

This is a team that believes in the work — not in spotlight or hierarchy.

Every collaborator is chosen for the same reason:

Some stories deserve to be held.
Some art should outlive us.
Some media should never disappear.

A Rebellion Against Digital Decay

We live in a world where stories vanish into subscriptions, algorithms, and servers that can disappear overnight.

  • Streams glitch.
  • Licenses expire.
  • Libraries quietly disappear from platforms.

But a record?
A book?
A print?
A cassette?

They endure.

Physical media is our refusal to let stories be consumed and forgotten.

It’s permanence in an impermanent world.

Every pressing from The Raven’s Crypt is a promise:
  • This story will exist in your hands.
  • It will not disappear because a platform died.
  • It will not rot in obscurity behind a login screen.
  • It will outlive noise, trends, and digital decay.

Physical media is our rebellion — and our love letter to the old ways.

  • More Literary Relics

Poe, Grimm, Lovecraft, folklore, myth, and the beautifully obscure — each brought back to life through physical media and atmospheric design.

  • Collector’s Editions

Numbered runs, alternate artwork, relic-inspired packaging, and editions built to feel archival — crafted for collectors who want to hold history in their hands.

  • Expanding the Crypt

New cosmic horror universes, interconnected lore, original myths, and long-term archival projects dedicated to preserving dark literature and physical sound against the digital void.

Stories die when no one holds them anymore.

We make sure they’re held.

If you feel that same pull — the hunger for old stories, physical sound, gothic art, and strange beauty — then welcome.

You’re one of us now.
You’re part of the archive.
You’re part of keeping the dark alive.

Welcome to The Raven’s Crypt.

“There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.” — Edgar Allan Poe
